BSG Solicitors have been successful in helping Team Reece become registered as a charity, officially known as “Team Reece Children’s Brain Tumour and Cancer Charity”.
Reece Holt is an 11 year old boy who is currently undergoing treatment for Anaplastic Astrocytoma; an extremely rare malignant tumour that affects only about 10 children a year. Throughout his treatment, Reece has wanted to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to return some of the support they have given him and also to provide respite for children and their families; so the idea of Team Reece was born. Reece and his mother Rachel decided that they wanted Team Reece to become a registered charity so they approached BSG Solicitors.
Mark Burrow, Partner at BSG Solicitors said “When we heard about Reece and his desire to help others, even at such a challenging time, we were keen to help, particularly as Reece is so inspirational and his Grandmother Olwyn was a much valued member of staff at BSG for many years”.
Mark added “The process to register as a charity can be complex and time consuming, but we have extensive experience in this area and were delighted when the registration was finalised”.
“It's taken some time and we couldn't have accomplished it without the help and tenacity of Mark Burrow” said Rachel.
Team Reece has already raised almost £16,000 but has ambitious plans for the future including raising money to purchase a static caravan on an inclusive site that children with cancer and their families can use for some respite and time together.
