Probate Legal Assistant

We have a vacancy for a full time Legal Assistant to work in our Probate Department at the Preston office.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a Probate department. The position will involve travel to visit clients and other offices therefore candidate must have a car available for work use.

Ongoing training, guidance and support from the team will be provided.

Job role

Working within the office with a friendly team of people, you will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  1. Providing assistance to a Legal Executive.

  2. Filing scanned post on paperless files, scanning and photocopying

  3. Chasing third parties by telephone such as utility companies

  4. Assisting with LPAs and their registration

  5. Opening files and completing client due diligence

  6. Completing basic IHT205s and Schedules

  7. The knowledge to run a simple Probate file

  8. Providing general day to day administration to the Probate department

  9. Telephone contact with clients

  10. Database work

  11. Happy to work in a paperless office

Skills Required:

  1. At least one years experience in Wills and Probate at Legal Assistant level

  2. Excellent typing ability, word processing and IT skills

  3. Must have good organisational skills

  4. Good attention to detail (Accuracy essential)

  5. Good communication skills

  6. Professional telephone manner

  7. Ability to work well within a team

  8. Motivated, friendly, confident, reliable & team player
